How safe is the cloud?

Like many new technological advances the cloud has been greeted with some trepidation, with most people’s concerns about it centred on the security of their data. As a trusted supplier of cloud services we take these concerns very seriously, particularly as the reputation of Selection is dependent on providing the very best levels of service to our customers.

We have taken every measure possible to ensure the privacy and security of our customers’ information when it is stored in the Selection Cloud.

How do we keep your data secure?

Physical security is certified to Tier 3 Data Centre requirements, which means that all access has to be requested by e-mail from an authorised domain and an authorised list of contacts pre-setup. Any onsite access is only granted with use of the access code and photo card ID. All racks are kept locked and Data Centre staff only open racks on request to authorised personnel.

All data stored with us is two-way replicated, meaning there are always two copies of the data on different physical storage devices. As well as being two-way replicated, all data is also backed up daily offsite to a geographically separate site. This means that all of our customers’ information is stored on more robust infrastructure than they have on their own sites.

Even though we are storing data for our customers all ownership rights are completely retained by them and at the end of a contract if the data is to be transferred elsewhere, we provide copies of all the virtual machines holding their information.

Our entire infrastructure is completely owned by us so none of the cloud environment is stored on any other company’s systems. All access to the Selection Cloud is provided via secure VPN connections or through private WAN’s that are put in place either by us or one of our preferred partners. As well as providing such enhanced security levels, Tier 3 Data Centre requirements also guarantees availability levels of 99.982% so you can rest assured that your information is going to be available when you need it.
